Ashinomaki Onsen Ookawaso: The Real-Life Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Hotel in Japan?
If you’re a Demon Slayer Fan planning a trip to Japan, there is one hotel that might look surprisingly familiar.
I thought i was just checking into a hotel in Japan… but somehow, i ended up inside Muzans Infinity Castle.
Hidden among the mountains of Fukushima, Ashinomaki Onsen Ookawaso has become famous among anime fans for its spectacular multi-level Lobby, traditional Japanese architecture and shamisen performance.
The moment you step into the Lobby of Ashinomaki Onsen Ookawaso in Fukushima, you will understand why this place has become so famous among Demon Slayer Fans. Unfortunately , I didn’t see Doma anywhere- but Nakime definitely seemed to be around.
The enourmus Lobby stretches across multiple levels, and it’s Traditional Japenese architecture immeditately gives you serious Infinity castle vibes.
Instead of a typical hotel reception you enter a huge open space stretching across several Floors.
But its not just the architecture….
The Lobby is easily one of the most memorable part of the hotel.
Right in the middle of the lobby, there’s a floating stage where tradtional shamisen performant take place. And while you’re standing listening to the music, it genuinely feels like Nakime could play a note and rearrange the entire rooms around you. For Demon Slayer Fans, its a pretty surreal experience.
Even without the Anime connection, though, the lobby is impressive and showcases beautiful Japenese design.
But Ookawaso is much more than a hotel with an impressive Lobby.
With Mountain View’s, traditional Japenese rooms, outdoor hot springs and Japenese cuisine, its also a beautiful place to experience zeitnah Onsen stay in Fukushima.
Staying at Ookawaso in Fukushima
The Hotel is located in Ashinomaki Onsen in Fukushima Prefecture, surrounded by mountains, forests and the river gorge.
The rooms are just as impressive, combining traditional Japenese design with a warm cozy atmosphere. With comfortable Futons, a peaceful interior and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and nature, they’re the perfect place to slow down and relax.
One of my favorite moments was actually one of the simplest.
Wake up, prepare some Japenese tea and sit by the window looking out over the mountains and river.
Japan travel doesn’t always have to mean rushing between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka.
Sometimes, doing absolutely nothing while looking at the mountains is exactly what you need.
Outdoor Onsen with Mountain View’s
Of course you can’t stay at a traditional Japanese Onsen Hotel without visiting the hot springs.
Ookawaso has an outdoor Onsen surrounded by nature, where you can relax while enjoying views of the mountains.
Onsen access is included for hotel guests, making it easy to visit during your stay.
And here’s a useful tip; The Hotel sells tattoo-covering stickers. If your tattoos are small enough to be covered, you may be able to use the Onsen.
So during your stay you can enjoy and relax in the hot springs and in the evening, head back to the infinity castle to meet the Upper Moons.
Dinner at Ookawaso
The experience doesn’t end with the Onsen.
In the evening you can enjoy a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner, turning the overnight stay into a complete ryokan-style experience.

The following morning, there’s another Highlight: Breakfast
If you’re used to a simple coffee and croissant in the morning, a traditional Japanese hotel breakfast can be an experience itself.
Is Ookawaso worth staying at?
For me, Yes.
If you’re purely visiting because you’ve seen the hotel on TikTok or Instagram and expect an actual Demon Slayer attraction,, you should know that Ookawaso is first and foremost a traditional Japanese Onsen hotel.
And that’s exactly why i think its worth staying here.
You get the spectacular lobby and those unmistakable Infinity Castle vibes, but you also get something much more authentic: Japanese hospitality, beautiful nature, hot Springs, delicious food and a peaceful escape from japans major cities.
